John Baron MP questions Secretary of State for Defence over Falkland Islands
MP highlights importance of self determination and international support During Defence Questions yesterday in the House of Commons, John Baron MP asked the Secretary of State for Defence, Philip Hammond MP, about the defence of the Falkland Islands. There is growing diplomatic and commercial pressure in South America, spearheaded by President de Kirchner, for the islands to be handed over to Argentina. John asked, “Having served with the present Commander of the British Forces in the Falklands, the Argentines would be very foolish even to contemplate any sort of military intervention.
