Families across the UK are being encouraged to discover the digital world together as new research shows young people look to their parents for internet safety support. The research – released as part of Safer Internet Day 2012 – reveals that three quarters of 9-16 year olds feel they benefit from talking to their parents about their internet use. It also shows that parents who talk to their children about the internet help to protect against potential online risks. But it’s not just a one way street. The Safer Internet Day 2012 research also reveals that two thirds of young people help their parents or carers use the internet, including one in six who help with safety features like privacy settings.
