Belsay residents should now be getting Cold Weather Payments, says MP Alan Beith
Not as much snow as last year - but still very cold! Alan beith wants to make sure constituents do not miss out on Cold Weather Payments. The recent cold snap means that residents in and around Belsay are now eligible for Cold Weather Payments and MP Sir Alan Beith wants to make sure people do not miss out. On 1 February the weather station at Albermarle triggered Cold Weather Payments for people in the south-western part Sir Alan's Berwick-upon Tweed constituency, including Belsay. For Cold Weather Payments to be triggered, the temperature must be recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees or below for seven consecutive days. Sir Alan said "The Cold Weather Payment of £25 per week has been fixed by the Coalition Government - it will not going back to £8.50, a cut planned by Labour.
