A packed public meeting in Barry

More than two hundred people attended a public meeting in Barry on Monday evening to oppose a plan that could allow the development of 180 houses on Brynhill Golf Club.  The background to this issue is relevant to the whole of the Vale because it relates to the Local Development Plan (LDP) and may well be the first of many such meetings across the county.  In summary, the Welsh Government require every local authority to draft a LDP, which is essentially a document that outlines where and where not building is likely to be permitted or rejected until 2026.  Between now and then I suspect that I will be asked to support or oppose individual planning applications, which I am happy to consider but in reality, the guide to whether any application will be allowed is contained within this document.  Therefore, this Plan is fundamental to individual planning applications over the next 15 years...
