Evennett gets behind the New Bus for London
David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, is pictured with Bexley Councillor Philip Read after viewing the New Bus for London on Wednesday morning, 4 January. The bus was on public view in Bexleyheath Broadway as part of a cross-London tour prior to entering service early next year. Commenting on the design, Mr Evennett said “I believe that this is a fantastic new bus for London. It combines modern design and technology with a retro feel. I look forward to it entering service”. About the vehicle The New Bus for London was commissioned by London Mayor Boris Johnson in 2008. Designed by Heatherwick Studio, it is built by Wrightbus. Inspired by the old Routemaster, it is modern, fully accessible and uses the latest green technology. It’s the first bus designed specifically for the Capital’s streets for more than 50 years.
