Pause for thought
As I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Successful New Year, I want to use this opportunity to look back at the year that has passed and forward to the year ahead. The economy has dominated the news headlines and I have no doubt will continue to do so over the coming twelve months. Growth slowed at the outset but I was pleased to see that the last quarter picked up strongly. It is unfortunate that our economic development over the short term will depend on the success of the Eurozone area in resolving its debt and economic difficulties. It accounts for 60% of our exports. Whilst other EU nations are facing a review of their credit ratings, the UK had its AAA rating confirmed. Our debt levels mean that we are still paying £120M a day in interest but at least international Authorities accept that we are on the right track. Locally, St Athan was again a major part...
