Redcar MP Ian Swales chooses the winning entries for his Christmas card competition.

Last month Ian launched the competition which saw hundreds of entries pour in from schoolchildren all over the constituency. Primary school children were asked to design an image for the front while secondary school children entered a festive verse for the inside. The competition was judged by community bastion, Frankie Wales and Kathy Lloyd, manager of Tees Valley Women's Centre. The winning design was that of Joseph Kasonali from Ings Farm Primary School. Second and third place designs were printed on the reverse of the card, by Thomas Neal, age 3, from Dormanstown Primary School and Sophie Gibson, age 10, from Bankfields Primary School respectively. The verse selected was by Isabel Wherritt, Nunthorpe School whose poem was both festive and heart-warming.
