Women in Sport  

On Thursday I joined the Us Girls project sponsored by Sport England. It was an opportunity to showcase the world class female sportswomen Britain has. It was a great turnout, with a staggering array of British team captains turning up in support, including: Charlotte Edwards MBE, (Cricket), Faye White MBE (Football), Maggie Alphonsi, (Rugby RFU), Nicolla Weekes (Rounders), Jade Clark, (Netball). The event also launched the first-ever Women’s Sporting Calendar, which highlights the outstanding role models we have amongst Britain’s leading sportswomen.I saw England Rugby Team led by Maggie Alphonsi beat the Kiwis at Esher Rugby club earlier this month, and was struck by the stellar quality of the rugby. With the Olympics coming up, we should be proud of the tremendous strides being made in women's sport - and make sure they get the recognition they deserve.The event was organised and promoted...
