CASH BOOST FOR STOCKPORT’S SCHOOLS – STUNELL

An extra 2,000 of the most disadvantaged pupils in Stockport are set to benefit from a cash boost to the Lib Dems' Pupil Premium, according to Hazel Grove MP Andrew Stunell. Lib Dem Children's Minister Sarah Teather announced this week that next year the government are extending the Pupil Premium to cover any child that has been registered for Free School Meals (FSM) in the past six years - not just the children currently registered. The Pupil Premium also rising in value by £112 to £600 per pupil, 7,610 pupils in Stockport are set to benefit next year - 2,141 more than this year - from £4.5m of funding. A number of schools in Mr Stunell's constituency could benefit, with Werneth (£189,600), Stockport School (£132,000) and Marple Hall (£106,200) all in line for six figure boosts to their budgets.
