Evennett welcomes funding for step-free access at Crayford Station

David Evennett, MP for Bexleyheath and Crayford, has welcomed the news that the Department for Transport is to provide Bexley Council with £53,000 of funding to help provide step-free access to Platform 2 at Crayford Station (6 December). The money comes from the Government’s Access for All scheme, which aims to improve the accessibility of Britain’s railway stations. Funding had previously been awarded to Southeastern Railway to undertake the required works, but they chose not to proceed. Bexley Council now plans to install a ramp and footpath along an existing pathway that runs parallel to Platform 2. Mr Evennett has been actively campaigning for the creation of this access point since May 2009.
