Torbay MP Welcomes Proposals on Water Reforms

Adrian Sanders, Member of Parliament for Torbay, has today welcomed the Government’s proposals for water reform put forward in the White Paper Water for Life. The proposals will create more efficient, customer focused water services for consumers throughout the UK, and set right the unfair pricing previously faced by customers in the South West.    The high water bills in the South West, compared to the rest of the UK, has been one of the biggest issues in the region for the last 20 years and Mr Sanders has lobbied the Government to get a fairer deal for the South West for much of that time.  The recent announcement has two key reforms which will correct this injustice. Firstly, the Government has decided to fund South West Water so that they can cut South West water bills for all customers by £50 per year.
