End to School Run Train Overcrowding

Torbay MP Adrian Sanders has welcomed news that the Paignton to Exmouth train line will benefit from new rolling stock.   The investment will see peak services gaining an extra carriage, allowing for hundreds of new passengers to use the line every day.  The move comes following concerns raised by the public with Adrian that services, especially between Newton Abbot and Paignton, suffer severe overcrowding during the school run.   The upgrade will allow around 270 additional passengers to be carried on peak services including the 1554 and 1655 trains from Paignton.   Adrian commented: “The more people are able to use public transport, the better, and this development will make sure that no one is put off using local peak time trains due to overcrowding.  Hopefully First Great Western can build on this to continue improving local services.”   ...
