Lottery and MP Marching on with War Veterans: MP Toby Perkins launches Lottery funded project for WW2 veterans

Following a presentation from The Big Lottery at the Houses of Parliament, Toby Perkins, Labour Member of Parliament for Chesterfield, joined servicemen from WW2, along with representatives of veterans associations and the Royal Legion at the regional launch of the ‘Heroes Return Project. After attending the meeting in Westminster, Mr. Perkins arranged the event to raise awareness of the funding opportunities for former servicemen over 65 years on. The initiative has played a leading role in funding visits for veterans of the Second World War to the country in which they were stationed in an attempt to reconcile the past of all those who were called upon to serve their country overseas between 1939 and 1945. The Project has ensured that Second World War veterans from the UK, Channel Islands and Republic of Ireland, along with a spouse or carer, can make a trip of a lifetime. Sadly few veterans...
