Good news for Dow Corning
I write this column having just returned from the House of Commons chamber welcoming and questioning the Chancellor, scrutinising his announcement on support to companies like Dow Corning today. I have been working for some time with Dow Corning and lobbying the Chancellor for months on the potential impact of climate change legislation on companies that use large amounts of energy, such as Dow. In an effort to force companies to reduce carbon emissions and in line with policies to combat global warming, there was a risk that companies such as Dow Corning or even Corus in Port Talbot and similar firms, would become uncompetitive.
