Andrew meets troops in Afghanistan
Andrew was sent to Afghanistan last weekend as part of the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme (AFPS) which Andrew volunteered to be part of last year. The High Peak MP, along with colleagues, was sent to Camp Bastion in Afghanistan by the AFPS to meet troops stationed out there, spend time talking to them about their experiences, and listen to what life is like out on the front line. As Andrew explained, they travelled out by military transport plane and were fitted with full body armour: "We flew out in the back of a military cargo plane, where we had to wear proper body armour for our own protection. I was glad that we weren't treated any differently to our troops, as I wanted to experience as much as possible what life is like for them in the camp."
