McKechin welcomes decision to keep Glasgow Airport
Ann McKechin M.P. for Glasgow North responded today to the news that BAA has decided to retain ownership of Glasgow Airport, along with Aberdeen Airport and sell its interest in Edinburgh Airport. The decision has been taken after BAA was told by competition regulators to let go of one of its Scottish hubs. BAA is now reported to be beginning preparations for a sale and expects to formally approach the market in the New Year with a view to agreeing a sale by Summer 2012.The news brings to an end the uncertainty hanging over the future of Glasgow Airport, a key transport link for the city to trading partners in London and beyond.Ann stated – “I welcome this announcement as it finally ends a long period of uncertainty hanging over the future of Glasgow Airport.
