There have been a number of threats to the safety of Members of Parliament over the past few years.  In 2010 Stephen Timms, a nice Labour MP, was attacked in his surgery by a deranged woman, whilst a while ago a parliamentary assistant was tragically killed by a madman wielding a samurai sword and his boss was left seriously injured.  So we have all been briefed about what to do if someone becomes difficult in the office and our post is scanned in London before being delivered to the constituency. However, in recent weeks, with anarchists on the streets of London and parliament having voted, almost unanimously, to enforce the UN Resolution protecting Libyan citizens, the parliamentary authorities have become more worried about our safety. In these times of austerity, there are clear concerns about spending too much money.  So there will be none of the alarm systems and police...
