Dudley North MP Ian Austin is urging local youngsters to apply for a new work experience scheme in Parliament. House of Commons Speaker John Bercow has launched a new Parliamentary Placements scheme to give twelve people from ordinary backgrounds the opportunity and support to complete a paid internship in Parliament. The new scheme is designed to meet worries that the only way young people can gain experience of working in Parliament is through unpaid “internships” which men the positions are only accessible to the wealthy or those based in London.
