Bacon responds to Reserve Forces review

SOUTH NORFOLK MP Richard Bacon has written to Julian Brazier, the former SAS reservist and Canterbury MP who has been appointed by the Prime Minister to look at the future of the Reserve Forces alongside Vice Chief of the Defence Staff General Sir Nick Houghton. In his letter Mr Bacon, a former TA soldier, highlights the need for the Territorial Army to deploy in formed units to get the best out of its people. Mr Bacon said: “Territorial Army units have served with distinction in Iraq and Afghanistan. TA members have fought and in some cases died alongside their colleagues from the Regular forces and we are in their debt. “The TA offer enormous benefits to the country at low cost and its role can be developed and deepened further, offering greater flexibility, even better value for money and also a more fulfilling experience for reservists themselves. “As part of this, the review should...
