Last week I held three local Advice Centres in order to make sure that we were on top of all the existing work before Parliament returned this week, after its summer “recess”. After an Advice Centre in Yeovil on Thursday evening I called in on the Canoe Club, which is based at Sutton Bingham Reservoir. This has only been in existence for a relatively short period of time, yet it is incredibly popular – with literally hundreds of members. Indeed, it has grown to become one of the largest such clubs in the South West. I hope that we can help the club to grow and to ensure that it has the right facilities for the future. On Friday, there was some rather less pleasant news, with the County Council announcing big budget cuts for the years ahead.
