Diane has pledged to stand up for women all around the country over the unfair cuts announced in the Lib Con budget. Diane, who held a debate in Parliament on the impact of the public expenditure cuts on women on Monday, says that women all around the country will be hit especially hard by the cuts, and will be far worse off than men. Statistics show that in most regions, double the number of women work in the public sector than men, and so will lose out from a freeze in pay, but also because they have a greater reliance on public services, tend to receive more benefits and tax credits, and are often the main carers of children. Women will pay back an estimated £5.8 million of the deficit – three times the £2.2 million that men will contribute.
