Diane: ‘I am what a 21st century leader looks like’

Diane  reiterated her desire to lead  the Labour Party yesterday, saying she is what a 21st century leader might just look like. Diane dismissed those who have written her off as an outsider, when she  appeared on a Sky News debate with the other candidates on Sunday. “In the 21st century, and in an increasingly globalised society, this might well be what a Labour leader looks like”, she said, pointing to herself.  She highlighted her years as a councillor, trade union worker and as a single mother, as reasons why she is a worthy candidate. Diane also warned that we must be careful in our approach to the immigration debate. Diane went head-to-head with Andy Burnham on the question of immigration, when he said he had not been able to defend on the doorstep the idea European migrants could send money from benefits back to other countries.
