Lady in a fur coat
As long ago as the 20s there was a learned thesis named 'In search of a scrounger. It mocked the myth of legendary scrounging woman 'in a fur coat' who was seen collecting her National Assistance after getting out of her limousine. She was seen everywhere from John o Groats to Lands End. In the fifties the scroungers were living in council houses with a colour television and two cars parked outside. Now it's the family with blinds drawn until midday while their hard working neighbours are up grafting from the crack of dawn. This line from Cameron was parroted back at me in an e-mail. I am sure thousands of others are responding to the campaign of the Coalition, the Sun and the Telegraph. A few facts. There always have been those who abuse the benefits system.
