Poodle future  

  Many, many times have I blogged about my pride in the work of the Public Administration Committee (PASC). Now it's demise is imminent.  The Tory whips are trying to kill the committee as a powerful weapon of independent scrutiny.   The Labour members have always voted for the merits of the evidence. Frequently, we have voted for what is right not what is politically convenient. Many of conclusions have embarrassed our own Government. Recently we hammered the Government on Equitable life and the Pensions for ASW workers. No Labour MP on the committee has even argued from a political standpoint. Committee work was judged to be above the Yah- Boo futility of much  parliamentary in-fighting. The issues are more important than party point scoring.   The committee has been seeking transparency on appointments to the Lords for the past three years. Some...
