Cameron modestly claims Tories won the Cold War

At today's Prime Minister's Questions (PMQs) David Cameron made an astonishing assertion: the Conservatives, he told the House, had won the Cold War.Now, the Conservatives were in office at the time the Berlin Wall came down. Labour were in office when England won the World Cup but I don't claim a causal link. Well, not often anyway.I can think of a couple of other reasons that the West won the Cold War. One might point to the brave peoples of Eastern Europe who resisted oppression, the shipyard workers of Gdansk perhaps. Or the fact that the Soviet Union's grossly inefficient economy was going bust. Or one might just think NATO had something to do with it, you know the military alliance that included the United States, Britain, West Germany, Italy, Norway, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Iceland, Malta, Luxemburg and Turkey.
