PM thanks Operation Moshtarak troops

The Prime Minister has visited UK troops in Afghanistan to thank them for their role in Operation Moshtarak. Gordon Brown met some of the British forces who took part in last month’s assault on Taliban strongholds in Helmand Province and visited areas which British, Afghan and other Nato troops have recently seized. Read more about the UK and Afghanistan During the visit, it was revealed that 200 new patrol vehicles will be made available to boost protection for soldiers from roadside bombs. Mr Brown also toured a police training college on the outskirts of Lashkar Gah which is part of the efforts to boost Afghanistan’s security forces to 300,000 by the end of 2011.
