LOCAL MUMS CELEBRATE SURE START SUCCESS AND PUT THEIR QUESTIONS TO GOVERNMENT MINISTER
Maria Eagle MP, Government Minister for Justice and Deputy Minister for Women, and Hilary Armstrong MP. This week Hilary was joined by Government Minister for Justice and Deputy Minister for Women, Maria Eagle MP, in Consett town centre alongside Sure Start and parenting organisation Bounty, to discuss the issues affecting women with young children. Over fifty local mums joined the discussion raising their views on a number of issues including the importance of Sure Start, tax credits, education and childcare. Hilary said: “We wanted to create a space for young mums to share their experiences and views of the issues they face, and to tell us how they think Government and local services could better respond to their needs†The event follows a survey of three hundred and thirty-three mothers with children under the age of five.
