Me, the nuclear industry and the Daily Telegraph

  Very interesting developments this week with regard to the Daily Telegraph’s interest in the functions sponsored by me in the House of Commons on behalf of the nuclear industry since my election in 2005. You can see an article setting out the reason for the interest here www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/politics/7175488/MPs-face-investigation-over-rooms-for-lobbyists.html The paper claims that ‘MPs face investigation over rooms for lobbyists’ – this is certainly news to me, I’m unaware of any investigations or who would be carrying these out, but I welcome any investigation if it exists. Any MP should be prepared to demonstrate transparency and accountability with regard to any lobbying effort they are either subjected to or involved in.  Without doubt, the public has a right to know which MPs are being lobbied by which organisations and for what purpose.
