 Hilary is liaising with Durham County Council and the government during these extreme weather conditions. Many constituents have been in touch to express their concern about the weather and find out where they can get the latest news from. We hope that you will find the below information useful: Gritting and road closures The County Council is responsible for gritting roads in Durham with the exception of the motorway and unadopted (private) roads.   Information about gritting and road closures can be found here. The Council say that due to the future uncertainty regarding the supply of salt, it is necessary to prioritise gritting to all A roads and B roads throughout the county. This covers the vast majority of bus routes. It does not, however, include residential roads.
