New MPs sleaze scandal ?  

Brace yourself for a new MPs' scandal. But it will not be. It's a heap of baloney. MPs usually sign for purchases in the Commons. These include meals, hospitality for visitors and parliamentary gifts for raffles etc.. It's  a convenient arrangement and the great majority of MPs have their bills paid by direct debit every month. A freedom of information request has been made for all MPs' bills for last September. They will be published in a couple of weeks time. No doubt the story will be written up as some new shock and horror scandal. It will be nothing of the sort, It will be entirely meaningless if my experience is typical. Even though I get a monthly account saying that sums will be deducted from my bank account each month, nothing has been deducted for nine months. The reason is a change of debit card last winter.
