HILARY CONGRATULATES LOCAL SCHOOLS ON RESULTS RISE

Hilary Armstrong MP is delighted with the recent publication of GCSE results which revealed a big rise in the number of pupils getting five or more A*-C grades in Durham. The results show that: Durham ranked number seventeen in a table of the top twenty Local Authorities in England showing the biggest performance improvement in GCSE results since 1998. The percentage of pupils achieving 5 or more A*-C grades at GCSE in Durham has risen from 35.7% in 1998, to 74.5% in 2009.
